P-DTR® FOUNDATIONS – NORTH AMERICA VIRTUAL SERIES
What is P-DTR®?
Proprioceptive – Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) is the product of the original though and research of orthopedic surgeon, Dr. José Palomar. This work recognizes that input from sensory receptors – and the way the brain processes the information from these receptors = is critical in determining neuromuscular responses throughout the entire body. More information here.
Is there a registration deadline? Can I still register after the deadline has passed?
All students are asked to have registration completed one month prior to the start date of Module I. If you are having financial difficulties but still plan on signing up for the course after the deadline, please message [email protected].
Dates:
– Module I: August 3 – 7
– Module II: September 21 – 25
– Module III: November 2 – 6
How and when will I receive access to course content?
All registered students will be added to an official course forum on Facebook 2 or 3 weeks prior to the start date of the course where all materials will be posted via access to a Dropbox folder. This will become your go-to resource to converse with your instructor, assistants, and your classmates about any questions, tricky cases, or triumphs you may have.
What if I need to cancel the course?
Easy! Simply contact us within 30 days before the course begins and we will give you a full refund (minus 3% merchant fees we incur), no questions asked. Cancellations less than 30 days incur the following fees in addition to merchant fees; 29-22 days, 30% total price paid, 21-25 days, 50% total price paid, 14-8 days, 70% total price paid. No refunds will be issued one week or less out. This cancellation policy applies to both Modules paid for as part of a package as well as those purchased a la carte.

NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) LEVEL 1
What is NeuroKinetic Therapy® ?
NeuroKinetic Therapy® corrective movement system, is a sophisticated assessment and treatment modality that addresses the causes of dysfunctional movement/coordination problems at their root in the motor control center in the cerebellum. The motor control center stores these patterns and directs their completion through the spinal cord and the muscles. The motor control center learns through failure.
Neurokinetic Therapy® corrective movement system for:
for Physical Therapists
for Chiropractors
for Personal Trainers
for Massage Therapists & Bodyworkers
for Pilates Instructors
A good example is a baby learning to stand. Each time the baby tries to stand and falls the motor control center stores the successful aspects of each attempt. When that program contains enough successful information the baby is finally able to stand. Conversely, a dysfunctional movement program can be created by injury. For example, in a whiplash, the posterior neck muscles become very tight and painful. No matter how much they are manipulated or stretched they stubbornly remain that way. Why? Because the anterior neck muscles are weak and inhibited.
Loosening the posterior neck muscles followed by strengthening the anterior neck muscles will reprogram the motor control center. How do we know that the anterior neck muscles are weak or inhibited? Manual muscle testing is employed to assess whether or not a muscle is strong/ facilitated or weak/inhibited. When a muscle tests weak the motor control center perceives this as a failure and is opened to new learning. This presents an opportunity to use the NeuroKinetic Therapy® corrective movement system protocol of test-release-retest to reprogram the motor control center. Correcting these dysfunctional movement patterns is an essential component of rehabilitative therapy.
What Will I Get Out of These Seminars?
You will learn the basics of motor control theory and the NeuroKinetic Therapy® system’s protocol. Manual muscle testing will be demonstrated for each segment of the body. How to recognize compensation patterns, whether they are from reciprocal inhibition or a dysfunction in a kinetic chain, will comprise much of the classroom theory. There is sufficient time for hands on practice.
If you are a massage therapist, physical therapist, or a chiropractor, NeuroKinetic Therapy® can be used as a manual therapy technique employing soft tissue mobilization. This technique allows you to become a somatic detective.
If you are a Pilates instructor or personal trainer, NeuroKinetic Therapy® corrective movement system can be used as an assessment technique, or you can use a foam roller or stretching as part of the release protocol. Understanding the underlying causes of dysfunctional movement patterns will allow you to help your clients use the equipment in a much more effective way.
