During this talk, learn from Dr. May on how to breathe during common exercise and lifts for pelvic floor support, how to create a proper abdominal contraction and how to properly breathe for good core support.

ABOUT: Dr. Amelia has been practicing in women’s health since January of 2021 and is passionate about empowering folks to feel their best at all stages of life, especially athletes & exercise lovers. Amelia has continuing education certifications in dry needling, exercise & rehab management in women’s health, pregnancy/postpartum, and PRI courses including pelvis restoration & postural respiration. She has a background in sports & orthopedics physical therapy after receiving her Doctorate from KU Medical Center in 2019. Amelia loves spending time with her husband & dog, traveling, playing rec sand volleyball, or reading.

Holly talks about how to train clients for Pelvic Floor support and strengthening, and how to know as a trainer, when you should refer your client to a Pelvic Floor Therapist.

ABOUT: Holly is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and Certified Pre- and Postnatal Coach. She is passionate about helping women thrive by working together to define their health and fitness goals, create a realistic plan to achieve those goals, and cultivate supportive habits along the way. Holly recently achieved her master’s degree in lifestyle health sciences and coaching at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. In her free time, Holly enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, and hanging out with her cat, Edgar Allen Paws.

GUEST SPEAKER #3 | DR. TAYLOR REYES
THE PELVIC FLOOR & TMJ CONNECTION
Dr. Taylor goes into the anatomical connection between the Pelvic Floor and TMJ, and the autonomic NS connection between the two. Learn why sometimes you have to address the Pelvic Floor by addressing the cranium/airway. The takeaway is implementing downregulation and manual therapy and a very basic cue on when you need to see a dentist that specializes in airway issues.

ABOUT: Dr. Reyes enjoys treating patients from all walks of life with varying issues. She has a passion for teaching people with chronic pain how to modify their mindset and lifestyle so they have a more empowered healing journey. The belief that exercise, nutrition, and sleep are the pillars of optimized healing is deeply rooted in her practice and personal life. Dr. Reyes and her family practice these pillars through adventure in nature, joy in cooking whole foods, and prioritizing rest.
In 2014 during a clinical internship in Guatemala, she had the opportunity to volunteer at a local prosthetics clinic and wheelchair shop, Transitions Foundation. The employees and clients of the organization touched her heart deeply. Therefore, FIRE Physical Therapy gives 10% of every initial evaluation to this foundation annually.
